By the time it was time to be dressed and ready to go, I came out of the bathroom, to find Sam had climbed up into his seat at the table (something he doesn't normally do) sitting there banging on the table. "I want Fruity O's." I said No, you need to get your shoes on, it's time to go take your test. Eric came out and Sam grumbled and he grumped, "Fruity O's. I no get shoes. I want Fruity O's." We couldn't take him seriously like this.
We took him to the hospital, and after a bit, an appointment for brother, he had his swallow study. He very deeply penetrated on nectar thick, and did it again not as deep on honey thick. There's really no change there. So we'll follow up with the feeding team and repeat in 4 months. :( Oh well, it wasn't aspiration outright, though Mommy did get a little frown when she confessed she gives him water (which we know he's aspirating) and honey thick milk. That's all he drinks. He's (knock on wood) never had any bronchitis or other lung infections, so common with silent aspirators, so I figure we're doing ok. We'll follow up as they suggest, and keep going. Eric and I will not do a feeding tube. Nope. I'm open to kicking up the prevacid, since he's only on a half dose, or limit what he eats/drinks a bit, but No Feeding Tube.
Sam is ok with that, as long as I give him fruity o's.
So for a treat on Good Friday, I took the boys to visit the Easter Bunny. Sam wasn't too much of a fan.
But we borrowed our friend Emily, who was absolutely thrilled. It was her first visit to the Bunneh as well as Sam's. Emily enjoyed it more.
But they were all thrilled with lollipops and paper bunny ears. Even though it was far and expensive, it was totally worth it. :)
We had a lovely trip to see the Bunny, visit the Lego Store for the first time, and have lunch together. Sam lost the battle...first with the blue lollipop.
Then with a cinnamon sugar pretzel.
Apparently, our boy is the boy who likes and needs to eat. And he gets really grumpy when he doesn't eat. He might be mine. ;) So, if you find Sam fussy, and he's not teething, feed him, he does much better.
Yesterday he was totally stoked to tag along to brother's soccer game (the last two times it's been too cold, he wasn't allowed out of the car) and he played with the ball, and snacked on a (away arr) Granola bar...sometimes at the same time.
