Well, we're almost there. Today was Sam's first day of "school". I use that term kind of loosely because it's not technically School. It's a Mom's Morning Out Program. Once a week from 9-11:45 Sam gets to go to a preschool. Preschool with the Julius twins. And the Mommies get a couple hours off to go get a drink, or get some shopping done, or simply go to the bathroom in a public restroom all by ourselves. Oh yes, it's a Wonderful deal.
What was amazing was how excited the boys were. Chris has been dying for Sam to wear his "School shoes" for the last month. We found R2D2 sneakers for Sam, and some Stormtrooper clone ones for Chris. And Sam was so thrilled about getting to take a backpack, he wanted to carry it, even though it was fully stocked and as big as he is. He nearly lost it going down the front steps. Actually, he did wipe out and scratch his knee a bit.
But once we arrived at the church, he grabbed that beastly backpack and took off. Leaving Mommy in the dust.
And when we entered his classroom, there were lots of toys, and he went directly in to play house, didn't say goodbye, didn't cry, just happy as a clam doing whatever he pleased. The same was only 50% true for the Julius girls. Sarah didn't take the whole process as well as Sam and Kristin.
But by the time we picked them up they were all happy, and tired. They had a wonderful time. They learned a little about letter A. And this this is going to be a great year!
