Dangerously Smart

Sam amazes me. He is so wickedly smart. And he's beginning to learn how to use it. Yesterday at breakfast, he was asking for fruit snacks. I said no. He pouted. Then when I gave him some later, he turned to me, "Mommy. I yuv you." He's hard to resist.

Last week he was telling me something, I don't remember what, but he used the word Actually. In context Correctly. I know he gets it from me I say Actually, and Really, a lot and both boys have picked up on that. It feels like daily he says something that amazes me. His speech is so clear, he seems so much further along that Chris was at this age. And he can count. I've heard him count to 10, but only once all the way through, most of the time, he'll go 1-4 and 7-10. Or mix up a few in the middle. He's so smart. And that kind of worries me. He's so much like my sister, and yet so much like my Uncle Bob. Charming, smart, and sneaky. He's going to be my silent but deadly troublemaker.

But this morning, he got me. I was listening to him pad around the house, he was in the foyer, and I heard him singing the ABC song. Then he sang it again at the breakfast table. And while brushing his teeth. By the time I grabbed the video camera he was over at the fridge playing the song with our Leap Frog magnet game there, and singing along.

But he was singing it faster than the song could play. I'm so proud of him. He's a Genius!
