Who's 2?

Took the boys to the Art Museum on Tuesday so they could pose with their numbers. Here's Sam with his 2, and under his 2...or 2 and under. ;)

Samuel Elijah Willman IS 2 years old.

I like this sentence. It's what greeted me at the top of the page when I opened his blog tonight. I can't believe it's been 2 whole years since our sweet little 'baby' entered our lives, it feels like maybe a matter of months...I guess it has been. 24 Months.

It's been a wonderful day, I'm feeling Wonderfully Blessed.

It was a Crazy Busy Day.

It started out small, with our usual morning cuddles with cocoa as the sun comes up.

Then we tried to show Sam his present from the Birthday Pig. He was none too festive about it. Didn't want to open it at all. In fact, he threw a nice tantrum and flopped himself on the floor rather than open that present. OK, Welcome to 2.

Then he discovered his new (to him) kitchen, in our kitchen. Oh he loved this. It wasn't wrapped. The accessories were, but he he didn't care to open them. He only wanted to open the doors and push pretend microwave buttons. Totally Stoked.

The boys make breakfast for themselves. ;)

Chris wanted to badly to be helpful, but not to hog the spotlight; there was a treat in it for him if he was Good. So he kept asking if he could "Help Sam Finally, big brother talked us into letting him open one of the kitchen accesories boxes. Sam was thrilled to really get cooking in his kitchen. So thrilled, he had no desire to leave his kitchen until it was time to go to his birthday Party.

This would be the Birthday Boy, sporting his "I'm the Birthday Boy" shirt, and getting a Birthday Party sticker for his party at the Children's Museum.

Look who we bumped into in the library, a sci fi fanatic's dream...Darth Vader! We also saw some other Star Wars characters and even some Star Trek...for the new exhibit on tv show and movie costumes. The kids were so Intrigued, and Mommy wanted to take boatloads of pictures, it took us 15 minutes to cross the lobby.

Sam does a little coloring of his Diego Picture.

Big Brother has to help Sam blow out his Candles.

But Sam only requires a bit of help to eat the yummy cake. ;)

Sam got to sit on the Birthday Throne. He didn't want to let go of 'My Hoop' so we didn't make him. King for the day and all that.

Until he wiped out, fell down and clocked his head. He's been prone to lots of bumping and bruising lately. Then he found comfort in his own new CocoaBear, a koala from his Aunt Amy.

After the party, he had a smidgeon of energy to play in the Diego and Dora Adventure exhibit, which was unofficially the theme of his party.

Since Sam is a big boy, he got to sit at the Big Boy Table, with the big kids (Chris and Emily) at lunch at McDonald's. Such a Big Boy.

After lunch, we went to the Julius's....which is exactly what Sam wanted to do, he asked to "Go to Emmy's (Emily's) house." We were planning it anyway to watch Butler play in the Elite 8, NCAA championship basketball. So it was easy to comply with the wishes of the Birthday Boy. Sam was thrilled to show us his Booga shirt (Bulldogs!) too. He was pulling double duty wearing a Birthday shirt and a Bulldog shirt. He curled up and took a nap, but after waking, and snaking on chocolate, and choking on chocolate, Sam threw up. A Lot. So he had a bath at Mike and Kathleen's, even with hair wash. But he still supported his bulldogs snuggled up in a puppy towel.

Don't know if he forgave me for washing his hair and taking him out of the tub though. But just wait until he realizes tomorrow, that he didn't open all his presents today, and he gets More! We're all feeling pretty Blessed today.

Sam sings

video

He sings. He's getting creative. He likes to color (kao). But doesn't like to Share. It's hard not to say, he's 2. He's so almost 2 its not even funny. He wants to be like big brother. He told me this week he wanted to Fo Row - forward roll just like big brother. He wants to sneak in big brother's (Bao) room all the time. He'll even say, "No Sieve" to himself as he sneaks in and steals toys. He wants to run races like brother. "I go win!" He rarely does, but with his enthusiasm alone, he wins.

They are almost ready to play together. Almost.

I name Sieve

Sam says Siv a lot. It didn't occur to me until the day before yesterday that he's calling himself Sieve. He found my desktop photo on the computer, which had the corner of my eye, Sam and Chris, and he was pointing to Chris and saying "Bao". Sunday was particularly rough on me because both boys needed early naps, and Chris Would Not. Sam slept two hours, and woke to me still yelling at Chris to go to bed. Sam stood by his door yelling "Go Seep Kakov!"I asked him where's Chris's eye, and ear, (it's a big screen, and lots of room for faces) and he pointed to his eyes and ears saying "Iss Kokov eyah" (It's Chris's ear). So he's his Russian brother, Eric and I find that quite humorous. But Then he pointed to himself in the picture and said "Iss Sieve, I name Sieve". And calling brother "Tiv". Siv and Tiv. Sam and Chris.

Oh my gosh. He's saying Sam!
I name Sieve really means I'm named Sam!

I was so struck by this, I called to tell someone, which led to other stressors and venting around me. Sam was circling me at the computer desk, and he was fluttering his lips, and I realized he was taking deep cleansing breaths...imitating me. Wow. Now I hear him saying it all the time, yesterday evening during diaper change, he covered his eyes, "Where Sieve?" or "Sieve Up!" when he wants out of the carseat. Now. Amazing.

This just feels so much huger than his saying Lowe's or White Castle for Daddy. He woke up screaming the other night, "DADDY! I FINE!" Babe, if you're screaming you're fine in the middle of the night, you are not fine. He's not been sick or anything, though we did discover something. He's allergic to kiwi. We got some kiwi this last week, Sam's first exposure was last week, and his bowels were a bit mad, so I wasn't sure, but when he had some at lunch yesterday, and his cheeks got red and by suppertime his bottom was red as a beet and blistery again, I knew. Sam's allergic to kiwi.

A Couple of One Year Olds

It's the first of March. HOW did that happen? While talking with our friend Amy today, I realized that Sam turned 23 months old on Saturday. Although really, when 23 months old, does one really need to say that he's 23 months old? No. Almost 2. He's almost 2.
Holy cow, Sam is almost 2.

Not to neglect him in any way. I totally ignored his 23 month birthday. Didn't take his picture or anything. We just hung out at home all day. We've been a little stressed out with houses and whatnot. This morning we were frazzled thought we were going to have a house showing, got the place all ready, and they cancelled, and Sam's kindermusik class got cancelled today too.
What a bonus when we dropped big brother off, and we got invited to a Bagel Breakfast with Sam's friend Liam. Liam turned One today!
I can't believe it, we had brunch with a couple of one year olds. Though Sam's days as a one year old are numbered.

It was sweet to see the boys get on together, but Sam just wanted to run around the room. He would say Go! And run around the restaurant, and come up to me, I Wii (I win) and then give me 5, and take off running again. He did that probably a good 5-10 laps. We had a great little mini-birthday party.

Happy Birthday Liam!
