First day of "School"

Well, we're almost there. Today was Sam's first day of "school". I use that term kind of loosely because it's not technically School. It's a Mom's Morning Out Program. Once a week from 9-11:45 Sam gets to go to a preschool. Preschool with the Julius twins. And the Mommies get a couple hours off to go get a drink, or get some shopping done, or simply go to the bathroom in a public restroom all by ourselves. Oh yes, it's a Wonderful deal.

What was amazing was how excited the boys were. Chris has been dying for Sam to wear his "School shoes" for the last month. We found R2D2 sneakers for Sam, and some Stormtrooper clone ones for Chris. And Sam was so thrilled about getting to take a backpack, he wanted to carry it, even though it was fully stocked and as big as he is. He nearly lost it going down the front steps. Actually, he did wipe out and scratch his knee a bit.

But once we arrived at the church, he grabbed that beastly backpack and took off. Leaving Mommy in the dust.

And when we entered his classroom, there were lots of toys, and he went directly in to play house, didn't say goodbye, didn't cry, just happy as a clam doing whatever he pleased. The same was only 50% true for the Julius girls. Sarah didn't take the whole process as well as Sam and Kristin.

But by the time we picked them up they were all happy, and tired. They had a wonderful time. They learned a little about letter A. And this this is going to be a great year!

Chase's 3rd Birthday

One of Sam's friends from Mom2Mom celebrated his 3rd birthday this past weekend. It was a Rockin' Party! I'm not kidding, the whole thing was Rock Star themed, and the kids were playing drum sets, keyboards, and Guitar Hero guitars when we arrived. Chris and Sam thought it was Awesome!

Chase loved the recorder that Sam and I picked out for him. You know Sam loves all kinds of musical instruments, the same is true for his friends.

And the boys had their cake and ate it too!

One of Chase's presents was a karaoke machine. And Yes, mommy got up and sang while the kids were my back up band.

But it was even better when my boys did Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Chris led, but turns out Sam can carry a pretty good tune. And Chase was on drums!

Sam's new School

We can't wait for Sam's new school to start next week.

We are sending him to the same church preschool that our friends the Julius's sent Emily, and where they are sending the twins this year. Since Sam is only 2 and not quite eligible for Preschool at St. Andrew's. But then when Kathleen said she was going to enroll the girls in the Moms Morning Out, I decided we needed to do it too. That would give Sam some 'school' time, which he needs because he's just advancing so much faster than Chris. It also doesn't hurt that it would give me 2 hours a week alone with my bestie.

Last Wednesday was Meet the Teacher night for Sam's new school. We were running late, but that didn't stop Sam from charging in and making himself quite at home playing with a new bunch of toys and friends.

Class officially starts next Tuesday morning. But Yes, he's going to do just Fine.
