The Sweetest Sidekick

On Wednesday, I finally finished Sam's costume! It was a lot easier in theory than in real life. I had the darndest time finding green sweats, eventually finding them at fleecefarm.com. It was tricky, but the costume looked fabulous!

Looked even better on Sam.

Our first wearing of his Robin costumer occurred at the 4th annual MOPS Trunk-or-Treat. When we arrived at the church, it was spitting rain, so we moved the party indoors, which made for mass hysteria. Miss Ashley found Sam unheld, so she snapped him up, and took him around to all the games, and Trick-or-Treating with the other 2 year olds.

They were so Adorable together. But I could barely get them to hold still for pictures.

He was most happy about finding a lollipop. He just really didn't want his picture taken.

Romping in the Gardens

Sam got a wonderful play date last Monday with the Julius twins. We took advantage of having the day off, and it being quite possibly the last gorgeous Indian Summer day, and hit the road. We took a mini road trip, kind of exploring, to the Garfield Park and Observatory on the south side of Indy.

We went exploring in the Sunken Garden. And we found it was surrounded with a fence. The kids couldn't take off. It actually was quite unusual to let them just Go. We took the strollers, in case they chose to ride. Sam wanted to...for a bit. They all took turns riding and running.

Kristin took the first run. She wanted to push Sam. And by gum, she was strong enough to do it. Strength and coordinating direction weren't exactly her thing though. ;)

The kids found flowers. Flowers within reaching distance. We were totally ok with them reaching out to touch the petunias, or smell them. Though when 2 year olds lean in to smell flowers, it's more like bumping their noses to the flower. Still pretty sweet.

And nothing says romping in a garden, like toddlers making a mad dash down a ramp.

Sam in the Sunken Garden.

Sam, lost in the details, in the conservatory. I think this is my favorite photo of the day.

Sam and the girls found a pond full of coi. Great big fish...and the kids thought it was the petting tank like at the zoo. They kept leaning in and trying to pet the fish. For the most part, we were pretty good about grabbing them, especially Kathleen, but they still had to be disinfected as we headed out.

We preferred they enjoy These kind of fishies instead. They liked the tank, and we liked them not threatening to fall into the water.

That's about when they got Done, when we took them away from the fishies. We had given them snacks but not Lunch. So when we saw the Valencia Oranges, Sam went for them, he didn't care they weren't ripe at all. My word, how I'd like to grow my own tropical fruit in my own Conservatory.

But the flowers were beautiful. This was blue ginger. Daddy would've loved it, but Sam didn't care. He was done, he needed lunch.

So we hit the road. But Mommy could've spent a Long Time in that pretty little conservatory. Next time, we'll eat lunch First!

Sneaky Pete

Someone may have gotten a hold of my camera, well, Grandma Willman's camera, The Point and Shoot.

And that same person may have taken 30 pictures or so of the loft and area around the computer desk while we were all supposed to be sleeping.

I think I found the culprit. Nice eyelashes Sneaky Pete.

Boy in the woods

What a nifty opportunity. I took Sam out of the car yesterday. That in and of itself wouldn't be exciting, but this stop surely was. We just got out to take a few pictures in a picnic area near Eagle Creek park. Perfect weather for it: Gorgeous fall leaves, sunny, and warm.

It's a little weird taking Sam out alone to play in the leaves. Weird to not have big brother. But on the other hand, Sam is a lot of fun. He kept talking to me, and walking, and telling me something every single step. Mommy we takin' pittures. Mommy there's yeafs. Mommy, yeafs fall down.

He's so adorable.

I may be biased, but when he gives me the cheese, I have a terrible time resisting. I mean look at those eyes. Their beauty looks fake.

And he wants to take pictures. I actually let him take one of me, and it didn't look too bad. We were only outside for a few minutes, it was near naptime after all, but it was the perfect time for it.

This one seemed a bit dark to me, but I loved the look on his face, so I messed with it a bit. Turned out even cooler.

It's a terrible burden to be so adorable and photogenic all the time.

Dangerously Smart

Sam amazes me. He is so wickedly smart. And he's beginning to learn how to use it. Yesterday at breakfast, he was asking for fruit snacks. I said no. He pouted. Then when I gave him some later, he turned to me, "Mommy. I yuv you." He's hard to resist.

Last week he was telling me something, I don't remember what, but he used the word Actually. In context Correctly. I know he gets it from me I say Actually, and Really, a lot and both boys have picked up on that. It feels like daily he says something that amazes me. His speech is so clear, he seems so much further along that Chris was at this age. And he can count. I've heard him count to 10, but only once all the way through, most of the time, he'll go 1-4 and 7-10. Or mix up a few in the middle. He's so smart. And that kind of worries me. He's so much like my sister, and yet so much like my Uncle Bob. Charming, smart, and sneaky. He's going to be my silent but deadly troublemaker.

But this morning, he got me. I was listening to him pad around the house, he was in the foyer, and I heard him singing the ABC song. Then he sang it again at the breakfast table. And while brushing his teeth. By the time I grabbed the video camera he was over at the fridge playing the song with our Leap Frog magnet game there, and singing along.

video

But he was singing it faster than the song could play. I'm so proud of him. He's a Genius!
